Interpreting for the Ruhr and beyond
- your Spanish interpreter in Essen

Spanish interpreter from the Ruhr, for the Ruhr

I am your conference interpreter for German (A), Spanish (B) und English (C) in the Ruhr area, Germany and Europe.

I offer consecutive, simultaneous, whispered, liaison and remote interpreting services and am also happy to translate documents for your event.

My main subject areas are natural sciences (zoology, geology, glaciology, ornithology, climatology, botany), history, cultural sciences, philology, tourism, mining, German legal language and nautical science.
Your subject isn't listed? No problem! Above all else, I am inquisitive and eager to learn, and I always relish the opportunity to explore new topics.

Despite having travelled widely and studied in various places outside North Rhine-Westphalia and Germany, I always find myself drawn back to the Ruhr area. This is where I was born and raised, and it’s where I intend to stay for the foreseeable future.
The people here are approachable, friendly and wear their hearts on their sleeves – and I'm no exception! In my work, I am reliable, quality-conscious and a good team player. I always keep a cool head, even under pressure. That came in handy back in my days on expedition ships and it's a quality that’s not to be underestimated when it comes to interpreting.

From 2016 to 2023, I travelled aboard ships between the Arctic and the Antarctic as an interpreter and expedition coordinator, and later also as assistant expedition leader and expedition leader.

My interpreting responsibilities included simultaneous interpreting of speeches on board focusing on the topics of flora, fauna, history and culture of the region, climatology, geology, glaciology, politics, zoology, ornithology, botany, anthropology and nautical science, as well as consecutive interpreting of speeches and announcements on board.

Career milestones

Career milestones

In April 2024, I was accepted as a junior member of Germany’s professional association for conference interpreters, VKD. This means that if I am unable to take on your assignment or you require a larger team of interpreters, I can draw on a wide network of interpreters throughout Germany.

Also in April 2024, I was sworn in as an interpreter for the Spanish language by the Regional Court of Essen. I interpret during court proceedings and am also authorised to interpret at civil weddings.

In May 2024, I became co-organiser of Essen’s regular translator and interpreter get-together.

My studies

My studies

From 2008 to 2012, I studied Slavonic and Romance Studies at Ruhr University Bochum, graduating with a bachelor's degree. During this time, I studied for a month at a university in Moscow and completed a three-month internship aboard Hurtigruten's expedition ship.

From 2012 to 2016, I studied for my master's degree in conference interpreting for Spanish, English and Catalan at the University of Leipzig. In 2014, I spent a semester studying at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

At the beginning of 2024, I passed the German legal language examination for court interpreters with top marks.

This and that

This and that

I love travelling the world and learning new languages, both of which go perfectly with my passion for interpreting. Most of all, I enjoy getting out and about with my rucksack, and the two of us have already explored Greece, Spain, Portugal, Cuba, and Central and South America together.

To offset what is basically a very sedentary job, I enjoy jogging, swimming and playing tennis, and in the summer I am often to be found at the lake, out there on my SUP. Come the evening, I’ll round off the day with a good book and a piece of chocolate, a good film, or some knitting.
