Are you looking for a Spanish interpreter for your multilingual event? In my role as an interpreter for Spanish and English, I make sure that your international guests can understand each other and communicate with one another.

 

I am an interpreter for Spanish (B) and English (C) based in Essen, in the Ruhr area of Germany. Besides the local cities of Essen, Bochum, Duisburg, Dortmund, Oberhausen, Gelsenkirchen and Herne, I also work across North Rhine-Westphalia and the rest of Germany and Europe. I offer consecutive, simultaneous, whispered, liaison and remote interpreting services and am also happy to translate documents for your event. I am certified by the Regional Court of Essen as a sworn interpreter for Spanish and interpret at court proceedings and civil weddings.

 

My main subject areas are natural sciences (zoology, geology, glaciology, ornithology, climatology, botany), history, cultural sciences, philology, tourism, mining, German legal language and nautical science.

Types of interpreting

Simultaneous interpreting

Simultaneous interpreting

Simultaneous interpreting translate spoken words into the target language practically in real time. Usually, they work in a booth at the event, wearing a headset, often in teams of at least two interpreters to ensure the best possible quality.

Common settings This type of interpreting is ideal for conferences, lectures, congresses or conventions.

A variant of simultaneous interpreting is whispered interpreting. It’s worth bearing in mind that this type of interpreting requires considerable effort on the part of both the interpreter and the listener, who has to block out any background noise. It should therefore only be used for short events and only with two interpreters.

Consecutive interpreting

Consecutive interpreting

In consecutive interpreting, the speaker and the interpreter take turns. While the speaker is talking, the interpreter takes notes and subsequently reproduces what has been said in the target language. Every interpreter has their own sophisticated note-taking technique, enabling them to deliver accurate interpretations of even lengthy speeches in consecutive mode.

Common settings This type of interpreting is ideal for ceremonial speeches, visits to trade fairs, and events where interpreting is only required occasionally. Please allow for double the speaking time.

A variant of consecutive interpreting is liaison interpreting. This is mostly used in negotiations, and the interpreter sits at the negotiating table along with the other participants.
